As I read the Torah portion each week, I look for something that inspires me to try to illuminate God’s word. This week I was drawn to the verse sandwiched between the lengthy description of the holy garments to be worn by the priests and the detailed instructions for making the alter, Exodus 29:45: “I will dwell in the midst of the children of Israel and I will be their God”. I love this verse because it reminds me that God is not in some distant place but is with us wherever we are; all we need to do is look!
One way that I ‘look’ for God is by putting pen to paper. I have found deep connection through my ongoing morning journaling practice and thought I would share a page from one of my journals in addition to my weekly prayer, in hopes of inspiring some of you to start your own journaling practice.
The journaling page reads:
Listen closely to the simple melody of your heart
as it beats in rhythmic harmony with your Soul’s Song.
If you truly listen to the Song of the Universe
you will discover it echoes deep inside your soul.
It is the Poetry of Belonging
primal, beautiful, haunting
connective, resonant & holy.
And here is my prayer for this week:
An Invitation to Dwell
©Joanne Fink, 2021
May we invite God
to dwell in our midst
and allow God to manifest
through the work of our hands
the love in our hearts
and our connection to one another.
May intentional spiritual practice,
heartfelt prayer and acts of loving kindness
strengthen our connection God
and to the Divine Spark
implanted within each of us.
As always, you are welcome to share (with attribution, please!).
